Working principle of Centrifugal Pump 2024

A huge demand of centrifugal pump in Sri lanka 2024 consist of mechanical device designed to move fluids (liquids or gases) by converting rotational kinetic energy, typically from an electric motor or an engine, into hydrodynamic energy. It operates based on the principle of centrifugal force. The pump manufacturer in Sri lanka follows the same working principle of a centrifugal pump:

  1. Impeller: The key component of a centrifugal pump is the impeller, which is a rotating disk with curved blades. The impeller is mounted on a shaft and is usually located inside a casing.

  2. Casing: The casing is a stationary housing that surrounds the impeller. It serves to direct the flow of fluid through the pump and also helps increase the velocity of the fluid.

  3. Inlet: Fluid enters the pump through the inlet, typically located at the center of the impeller. The inlet directs the fluid into the rotating impeller.

  4. Rotation: When the impeller rotates, it imparts kinetic energy to the fluid by the action of its blades. The rotation of the impeller creates a centrifugal force that flings the fluid outward from the center of rotation.

  5. Centrifugal Force: The centrifugal force generated by the rotating impeller causes the fluid to move radially outward from the center of the impeller towards the casing.

  6. High-Velocity Zone: As the fluid moves through the impeller, it gains velocity and enters a high-velocity zone. This kinetic energy is then converted into pressure energy.

  7. Diffuser or Volute Casing: After leaving the impeller, the fluid enters a diffuser or volute casing. The diffuser is a diverging passage that converts the high-velocity, low-pressure fluid into high-pressure fluid by slowing it down and increasing its pressure.

  8. Outlet: The high-pressure fluid exits the pump through the outlet, where it can be directed to the desired location, such as a pipeline or a storage tank.

In summary, a centrifugal pump works by using a rotating impeller to create centrifugal force, which results in the conversion of kinetic energy into pressure energy, ultimately allowing the pump to move fluids from one place to another. The efficiency and performance of a centrifugal pump depend on factors such as impeller design, pump speed, and the characteristics of the fluid being pumped.
